New arrival expected

A few months ago a friend of mine announced that she was expecting her first baby, I wanted to make something special for her and so went and bought a cotton baby gro, with the idea of stamping one of her favourite critters..... A hedgehog!

This is the result

You can see how this was created using Copic Markers to colour the image for fabric on this Video

In addition to the Baby Gro, I also made a matching tag, with washing instructions

And a card

The Hedgehog is from a Penny Black Clear Stamp set Bundle of Joy 30-043 available here, the to and from Sentiment inside the tag is from the Penny Black clear set To You 30-067 available here and the background pattern on the card is A Penny Black Slapstick stamp Circular Design 40-046 available here.  The cardstock is from Penny Black Mix and Match Summer Sun set 17-001 & 17-002 available here.

The tag was stamped with Memento black ink and coloured with the same Copic pen colours as used in the Video ( YG03, YG63, Y02, Y11, E37, E35, YR12, E00, R11, R20, E43, E57, E49, W1, 0, B00).

The To and From was inked from the 'to you from me' sentiment and stamped onto the tag, the bow is from the bundle of joy set and coloured with Copics.  The washing instructions were printed on a PC.

The background for the main card is using Summer sun 02, and the circular design stamp; this was inked with memories soft peach ink. The card was then machine stitched onto a white card blank. An oval was cut from white card stock and die cut cloud masks added; this was then inked with Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink. A Spellbinders lacey oval was cut from Summer sun 01, a border was hand stitched and then mounted over the main background.

The Hedgehog, flowers and branch were then stamped several times onto white card stock, coloured with Copics (colours as above), cut out and layered with dimensional glue  over the oval to add depth.

Don't forget to check out the Penny Black blog here for this weeks Challenge and more creative ideas this week. Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments.

Hi, this "little" gift is so cute as great is the idea. I'm just wondering if this technique works with water color pencils too... :))

Klara, by all means try it with watercolour pencils, the transfer paper is very delicate and easily rubs off if you are too heavy with your colouring, so that would be my only caution.
