Design Team Sketch challenge

Do you make your card right from your thoughts or do you plan and sketch your designs?  I have to confess to rarely using sketches although they are a great way to get the creative juices flowing!

This week the Design Team on Penny Black were set a challenge to come up with a card based on the sketch below, to see what the rest of the design team created over the week hop on over to the Penny Black Blog here.

Sketches are designed to be a starting point and so you don't have to copy it exactly. When I saw this sketch I just saw a window and that is how my ideas for this card began.

A window was cut from white card using Sizzix movers and shapers die, then airbrushed with Copics B32 and B16; the very edge of the card was then distressed with Chipped Sapphire ink.  The sentiment "Give, Share, Love" 2766H was then stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink and the snowflakes (from two clear sets; "Let it snow" 30-086 and "Fairy Christmas" 30-082) were stamped and embossed with white powder.

Inside the card

The sentiment was stamped from the "Let it snow" 30-086 clear stamp set using Versafine onyx black ink. The "Little elf present" 40-090 was stamped with Memento tuxedo black ink and coloured with Prisma Pencils (shadow round image - blue slate; top - jasmine, cream, scarlet lake, crimson red; Hat, Parcel and skirt - limepeel, moss green) and copic marker pens (face, hands E50, E51 R20, shadow on hat W00, W1 ). Mineral spirit ( I use zest it) was used to blend the pencil marks and draw out the colour.

Thanks for visiting me and have a great weekend. Hugs Cathy

Cathy this is wonderful how the sketch inspired your window AND also creates a decorative interior for the card! Fun, festive and cute!

I love your attention to detail in this & the fact that the image is stamped partly off your card base. The snowflakes are terrific both in terms of texture & colour when placed against the dark blue "sky".
