Mum can you make me a card for my brother's 18th?

Well my daughter is making the most of being home from university and making use of my card making to save her pennies!

This weekend she asked me to make a card for her Brother who will be 18 at the end of this month, so this is what I came up with.

I am still struggling to get an even stamped image due to my shoulder, but by creating a soft background I think I was able to get away with it.

I used the one of the new clear sets from Penny Black for the boy called Beep, Beep 30-092, I think it is a really versatile set and can be used for occasions other than valentines so easily.  The card was created using Clear Skies and Forest Glen 10-001, 10-003 and 7-001, the shape was cut using a Cricut machine and Wildcard cartridge.  To decorate the background I used Penny Black's Warm Wishes stamp 40-074 and bundled sage ink and the stars were created using the Christmas Express Clear set 30-080 and tumbled glass ink.  The sentiment is 3171C Happy Birthday, also by Penny Black.

Luckily my daughter is pleased with the resulting card...just have to come up with an idea now for my own card!

This week Penny Black are showcasing simple designs over on the blog, so do hop over if you get the chance.

Hugs Cathy

What a perfect card for your son, Cathy! I'm sorry to hear your shoulder is still bothering you so much - it sure doesn't show looking at this fun card! Hope it heals soon!

So cute how the little boy is carrying the big "18"!

The way the star extends off the card echoes the little boy running onto the star beautifully. Your 18 is brilliantly luminous & I love the shadowing of it too.
Do take care with that shoulder & I hope it continues to improve hugely as time goes by.
