Seeking Inspiration

Some days (well actually most days!) my mind goes a complete blank, which is not great if you want to create something to put on your blog!

So a friend kindly gave me a card that she had been sent to inspire me, it was this wedding invitation

So I thought I would show you two versions of a personalised wedding congratulations card based on this design.

For this one I tried to keep a similar layout; first I printed the sentiment onto the bottom of the card , I then masked around the edge of the card and then lightly sponged with a yellowy cream coloured dye ink.  I then stamped the tulip from 'Delicate Florals' 40-103 and coloured with alcohol markers.  The petals of the tulip were then stamped again on vellum and overlaid onto the stamped image.

I then stamped 'Lace Flower' 4241K in versamark ink and embossed with Wow Vanilla White embossing powder. On a separate piece of card I printed the couples name, cut out using a Spellbinders tag die (I cut off the ribbon threaders at the ends) Inked whilst still in the die and then mounted onto the card with foam pads.  To finish off I stamped two birds from the cake stamp 'Pinnacle' 4168K, coloured cut out and mounted onto the main card.

For the second one I tried to create a cleaner finish and so placed the sentiment nearer the flower, and used the lace borders to give crisper edges.

This card was created using similar techniques to the one above, except that the flower was not given a vellum overlay and was coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Markers and the Lace from 'Lace Delight' 30-115 was embossed with Stewart Gill inter gold embossing powder.

I do not normally create such fussy designs, so it goes to show what happens when you take your inspiration from others!

Have a great day.
Hugs Cathy

Love the vintage feel of these Cathy. It's nice to step outside of the comfort zone sometimes, isn't it?

Super to see how you you adapted the original design & worked outside your normal style. Your tulips look quite special & I like how you made two different versions - one fussier & one cleaner as it were.
