The Night Before Christmas

Ok, I am going to start this post with an apology.....year after year I go around the supermarkets in September and rant about the fact that the shelves are already stocked to bursting with Christmas goods, and now here am I in AUGUST making Christmas cards!  Well what can I say, as soon as I got the gorgeous new Penny Black Christmas Collection I just had to ink them up straight away!

Here is a card using the new 'The Night Before' 4280J, 'Winter Magic' 30-134, 'Madison' 80-001, 'Coral Reef' 15-001.

Here is a side on view showing the M fold shape of the card

I Stamped Mimi twice onto scrap card, using a Memento Ink Pen, this allowed me to only ink the bits I wanted for the headboard (Minus the stocking) and foot end of the bed (minus Mimi and the pillow).
A black fine liner pen was then used to draw in the missing woodgrain on the foot of the bed and the little bit of the bed post at the top.

Both images were then coloured with the following Copic markers:-
Face E00, E01 and R20    Hair E31, E35 and E57
Bed Posts Y32 and Y28   Holly G07, G28     Berries R89 and R37
Stocking R89, R37, YG03 and YG25             Bear E30 and E47
Pillow and Sheet RV21 and RV23

The images were then cut out and White Fluffy Stuff added to the top of the stocking.

A Piece of Coral Reef card stock was cut to measure 8 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches and scored at 3" (mountain fold) then another 3" (valley fold) along and a further 1 1/4" along (mountain fold). A piece of madison patterned paper was then cut to measure 3" x 2 1/4" and lightly coloured with Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick  Distress ink using a blending tool and adhered to the second 3" section of card.

The foot of the bed was then stuck to the shortest part of the M fold card and the head to the top of the largest part of the card.  The sentiment from Winter Magic was stamped in Versafine black ink and coloured over with copics and mounted onto the foot of the bed with a bit of thread and foam pads.

Thanks for joining me today and I hope you can forgive me for starting Christmas so early!

Hugs Cathy

Your attention to detail with this is gorgeous & i cannot get over how you thought to create the top & bottom of the bed to construct the absolutely delightful scenario.
You'll definitely be well prepared for Christmas - in many ways it's better that way for then you don't have it stuffed up your nose in one big binge as it were!

Fantastic card, Cathy! I love all your attention to detail. The added woodgrain on the end of the bed and your coloring are wonderful. I don't think making Christmas cards and selling Christmas stuff are at all the same thing so your rants are still valid.
