A Rose for a Rose

You may recall that I made a paper pink rose recently to decorate a gift box for my Nan's 90th Birthday, you can see the box here.  I wanted to create a matching card to go with the gift box and so decided to do a decoupage effect rose. Why roses, well my nan used to grow them in the front garden of her home before she moved to sheltered housing and so I though she would like this little reminder of her garden.

I stamped the rose from Love Assortment 30-090 four times onto some scrap card using Memento Lady Bug ink and then coloured with Copic Markers RV13, RV14, RV25, G07 and G14. I then cut out the petals omitting more from the back in each cut as can be seen here.

The Rose was then stamped again onto white card, this time using Memento Cottage Ivy ink and coloured with Copics and partially cut with a Spellbinders nesting oval die. Tip: Colour the edge of the flower head pink to allow for any cutting shortages on the decoupaged flower. The sentiment was also stamped at this stage from Words Express 30-106 (the word 'nan' was written in by hand using a fine liner pen).

This was then mounted onto a black oval using Storm 01-003 Mix and Match card stock and then onto a Rose Garden 14-003 Mix and Match Spellbinders Lacey Oval.

The card blank was created using Rose Garden 14-001 Mix and Match card stock and Spellbinders Grand Large Scallop Oval die, which had been stamped with Wall Paper Print 40-134 using Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick Distress ink.  To finish off the card I dyed some seam binding with Spun Distress Stain and tied it into a bow on the side of the card and added some faux white stitching.

Wishing you a wonderful week
Hugs Cathy
