Lulu and Her String Egg

Lulu and her string egg sounds like the start of a story, so here is my story on how Lulu came to be carrying this giant egg.

When I first saw the Lulu Spring transparent set 30-166, I just fell in love with Lulu carrying the giant egg, I then remembered that I had a picture on my pinterest board of string balls, it was then when I decided to swap Lulu's stamped egg for a string one and this is the result.

String Egg

So to create this little 3D card/scene;
1) I stamped Lulu onto white card using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and then embossed her with clear powder.

2) I coloured her with copic markers and cut her out.  I then added wire to the back so that I could get her to stand on the base (cut using Spellbinders nesting circles)  - I punched two small holes in the base and threaded the wire ends through.

3) 3 Small chocolate eggs were then put in a balloon and the balloon was inflated to create a small egg shape.  I then soaked the cotton string in Beacon Stiffen Stuff, allowed it to dry and then added another coat.

4) The balloon was then punctured and the remnants extracted using tweezers, a ribbon was added and then the egg was glued to Lulu to finish.

If I did this project again, I would use thiner string to get a more delicate look.

I bet who ever gets this will wonder how I got the eggs in the string!!!

This is genius! I'm thinking the recipient will wonder how to get the eggs OUT! lol

If you use two balloons and do half of each, you can hinge the egg using the same string - attach a loop and a button and they won't have to ruin the egg to get the treats out.

I like the thicker string! Gives it some good dimension! Can't wait to try this with some multicolor string that I already have...just need to get the balloon and candy! LOL...thanks for a cute idea that my grandkids will enjoy!

Oh what fun the recipient will have - I hope you get to see them puzzling over it. I love the way the aqua coloured egg picks up the sponging of the card base plus Lulu's petticoat & the pink egg her hair ribbons.
