Traditionally Merry and Bright

Earlier this week I shared a Minty Christmas Card, which is not normally my type of thing, so here is a more traditional colour palette card to redress the balance!

'Gift Tower' 4275K was stamped with Memento Toffee Crunch ink and then masked and the 'The Christmas Story' 40-164 stamped with the same ink, I then cut out the image using spellbinders ovals and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz distressing tool (it goes against the grain to rough up such a neatly cut spellbinders die, but it does give it a different look).

I then used a blending tool and Antique Linen Distress Ink to soften the white card added some Gathered Twigs ink to the edges and coloured the girl using Tim Holtz Distress Marker Pens, in Barn Door, Fired Brick, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed and Tattered Rose.

This was then mounted onto some recycled kraft paper (salvaged from some packaging in a parcel) that had been cut using Spellbinders Fancy Oval.

The background card blank was created using 'Fern Green' 05-002 Mix and Match card, onto this I mounted a piece of 'Rose Garden' 14-003 Mix and Match card that had been stamped with 'Crystal Pattern' 40-162 using Tim Holtz Festive Berries distress ink (tip: to achieve a shabbier look I did not worry that the whole background stamp was inked).  A strip of 'Madison' 80-001 Patterned paper was distressed with Antique linen ink and added to the card base with some cotton lace.

The Sentiment was then embossed using WOW Vanilla White embossing powder and 'Christmas Fashion' 30-127 stamp set and the oval stamped image added with foam pads to finish.

Did you know that the Penny Black Blog are still showcasing the AMAZING new stamp collection, you will be blown away by some of the work of the other designers, so if you get a chance hop on over to have a look here.

Back tomorrow with something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!

Hugs Cathy

Brilliantly effective stamping with Toffee Crunch & using the good old traditional colours - especially combined with the kraft edge.

Cathy you are an artist of details. Beautiful distressing and gorgeous layers makes this very "merry and bright"!
