A Stamp is for All Occasions, NOT Just Valentines

Have you visited the Penny Black Blog recently?  The design team have been sharing some amazing projects using a Valentine stamp for Valentines Day and then for another occasion.  This is such a great way to show how versatile the stamps are.

Today I want to share two cards using Her Heart 40-184.

For my valentine inspired card, I had the phrase 'Heart of Gold' in my mind and so this helped me to choose my colour palette. Here is the card in it's closed position

With All My Heart Closed

and here it is when the insert is pulled down to reveal the hidden message (did you notice that the bottom of the heart also acts as a pull arrow when the card is closed?

With All My Heart Open

Other Materials used include:- Coral Reef 15-002 Mix and Match cardstock, Scissor Sisters Green Paper, DCWV Nana's Nursery, Gold Pearl card, SRM stickers, Spellbinders nesting Hearts, Alcohol Markers and Gold Gilding Flakes.

For my non valentine card I decided that the little girl would make a perfect birthday card, the scissors in her hand lend themselves to her cutting out other shapes, in this instance I imagined she cut out the birthday banner!

Here is the outside of the card

Birthday Girl Outside

I cut the window using Spellbinders Nesting Squares onto Storm 01-001 Mix and Match Card and then used a swirly die and some tiny punched flowers to create a vine to the side of the window. You can just see the little girl peeking outside Tip:- to ensure the correct placing of the girl I ran a light pencil mark round the window and then used a stamp positioner to line up the image inside.

Birthday Girl Inside

As you can see inside I have only partially stamped the little girl and then coloured her with Alcohol Markers.  I masked off a strip near the edge of the card with post-it notes and then sponged Memento Angel Pink ink to create a border on which to stamp and emboss the Birthday sentiment from the Round and Round 30-112 transparent set.  The Banner was cut using Spellbinders Nested Pennants the smallest one was a little too long so I just chopped them down to size and then added alphabet peel offs (for my friends I know this will shock you as I NEVER use peel offs) for the 'Happy'.

I hope that the design team have inspired you to look at other ways you can use your stamps too.

Hugs Cathy

I had to check to see if you'd actually used the same image - she looks such a different character in the second. The gold heart in the first with that arrow pull is excellent & I love the whole interactiveness of it. As for the second - the detail of the vine with the butterflies plus your dimensional window is a real treat & I love her striped jumper.
