Flower Pots and Flowers

I wanted to share a flower pot that I have painted to give to a friend as a little present. For those interested in the plant it is a Calibrachoa - Dark Blue!

I used the Transparent Set 'Flower Festival' 30-095 and stamped onto a terracotta plant pot with white staz on ink.

Once the ink is dry, equal quantities of Claudine Hellmuth Gesso and Matte Medium were mixed and painted onto the leaves and branches (The whole image is coloured this way, but I find it easier to do in stages as it helps to differentiate between the petals and leaves). As in the image below.

When the white paint has fully dried, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints are mixed with matte medium (this helps the paint adhere to the pot) in equal quantities and the leaves painted and shading added. I have also done the centre of the flower in the image below.

I then added the gesso and matte medium mix to the petals of the flowers making sure that my brush strokes radiated out from the centre of the flower to add texture to the image.

Once this is dry I mixed some more studio paint and matte medium in shades of pink and added detail to the petals, as seen below.

The Pot was finished off with a darker shade of pink being applied to the petals and the rim painted yellow using the same technique as the flower.  I then stamped the rim with 'Puzzle Parts' 30-114 using green staz on ink.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Hugs Cathy

That is such a lovely project & the detail brilliant. The flower on the pot is so like the flower in it but for the colour! Thanks for info about CH Medium too - very helpful indeed.
