Think Outside The Box

I love to see stamps used in unusual ways, my design friend Elizabeth is always surprising me with the innovative ways she adapts stamps to suit her theme.  I thought I would have a go at using the 'Word to The Wise' 40-121 graduation stamp for a birthday card for my Dad.

The stamp was inked with Memento Rich Cocoa ink (excluding the owl on top!) and stamped onto a white tag.  The missing top was then drawn in with a Pitt Faber Castell Dark Sepia Artist Pen and the globe and book shaded with Copic Markers.

The Globe was then masked and the tag distressed with Antique Linen Ink and over stamped with 'Brick Wall' 40-137 and 'Letter Background' 1999L. The edges were distressed with gathered twig ink and the sentiments from the Tranparent sets 'Words Express' 30-106 and 'A Bear Of All Trades' 30-108 stamped top and bottom.

A rectangular mount using 'Forest Glen' 07-002 was cut and stamped with the zig zag from 'Puzzle Parts' 30-114 using Bundled Sage distress ink. This was then mounted onto cream cardstock, the tag added with dimensional foam pads and a twine bow added to finish off.

Thank you for visiting me today, if you would like more inspiration there are some wonderful projects by Linda Lucas on the Penny Black Blog here.

That is a super idea & I love the way you alternated the brick & script backgrounds - I'd not have thought of that........the change of direction & pattern really makes the eyes wake up & look!
