Watercolour Techniques

Today the team are sharing watercolour projects with you, I have had a sneak peak at the other designers work and it is well worth hopping over to see what they have created here.

I wanted to show how easy it is to create watercolour effect backgrounds with out the need for any expertise at all with the paint medium.

My first cards use a wet on wet technique; first you brush over the watercolour paper with clean water and allow to soak in a little, then you dip your brush in your chosen watercolour and paint horizontally across the paper, as you do so you will see the colours spread, repeat this for the next colour and watch the colours blend and merge together. So easy! I have used Penny Black's 'Paris' 40-119 for this card.

The more water you add the lighter the effect as can be seen below.

For the other technique, you paint the paper directly with paint again brushing in horizontal stripes down the page, then you take a damp rag and blot the paint; this removes some of the colour and creates wispy clouds.

This card uses 'Wishing You' 40-115 for the main image. The edging was created using the waste from the Classic Postage edge die by Spellbinders.

I will be back tomorrow will be pencil techniques.

Lovely card, and thank you for the explanation of how you did this card. You did a fantastic job, both with the card AND the explanation.
